The Importance of X-rays in Chiropractic Care | Chiropractor in Manahawkin, NJ
Hey guys, it’s Dr. Nicole with Healing Hands of Manahawkin. And welcome to our exam room. So today I want to talk to you a little bit about why X-rays are so important in properly diagnosing spinal conditions.
Why X-rays are Vital in Chiropractic Care
Now, a couple of things that you need to know, I’m going to show you an example of an x ray in just a second. But remember, the spine is literally the lifeline to the body. Reason being is that the spine has two very important jobs to do for you. Number one is your spine is responsible for holding up your body weight, that’s what we call your posture. Number two, the spinal bones actually housed the spinal cord. So when we look at an x ray in a minute, I want you to remember that the spinal cord is traveling right down through the center of the spinal bones that you’re about to look at. Now, it’s really important to have a healthy spinal cord in order to have healthy a healthy body. Because of the way the body works. The way that the body works is that the brain controls all of the organs in the body. And it does that by sending electrical signals through the spinal cord. So the spinal cord acts like an electrical wire that connects your brain to all the organs in your body.
X-rays Allow Us To Pinpoint Problems in Your Spine
So the patient that I’m about to show you now, he actually presented to our office with low back pain, because in his mind, he believes that chiropractic is a treatment for back pain. Now, what we now know is that chiropractic is a way to become a healthy individual. And to stay that way through the course of your lifetime. We’ll explain more about that in a minute. But I want you to see what our patient was dealing with. So this was the initial x ray of his low back from the side, the green line that you see is where the spine is at its strongest, where the posture is at its best. And where the spinal cord, remember I told you it flows through the canal through the spinal bone. So that’s where the spinal cord is most relaxed. When the spinal cord is relaxed, it delivers more energy to all the organs in the pelvic area and down the legs as well. Alright, so when we take an x ray like this, we’re able to properly see we will see with our eyes exactly what’s happening and be able to measure what what’s happening in the spine that’s causing this person’s condition.
So after 12 weeks of proper spinal correction, this is where we got this patient. So you can see the green line. And now you can see that the red line which is where the patient is at is way closer to that green line in only 12 weeks. So needless to say, the inflammation that was causing his pain certainly came down which is fantastic. But more importantly, now the structure is stronger, the posture is better, and the spinal cord is more relaxed, which allows the cord to deliver more signals electrical signals from the brain, to the legs to the feet to the circulation and legs and the feet and all of the pelvic organs like the digestive system, the reproductive organ and the bladder.
So thank you guys for playing with me today and we’ll be back with more information on why X-ray is so important when properly taking care of your spine.
