Hey guys, it’s Dr. Nicole Bonner with Healing Hands Manahawkin. Have you ever been told that you have a condition called scoliosis and it can’t be corrected? Or even worse, have you been told that you have scoliosis and you need to wear this big clunky brace to prevent it from getting worse.
We Specialize in Spinal Correction
Well I want to let you know that as a spinal corrective chiropractor, we specialize in helping people who have scoliosis actually correct the cause of their condition. The same way that an orthodontist could move teeth that’s embedded in soft tissue and straighten your teeth. We now have science, technology and research to be able to help many people with scoliosis, actually correct their condition. Scoliosis can be a debilitating deformity of the spine. It can be caused by many things. But it’s typically forms bad postural distortions, it can be really painful, uncomfortable, and debilitating. And scoliosis can even cause organ dysfunction, especially when left uncorrected, because of the massive amount of stress and pressure that it puts on the spinal cord and the nerves that exit the spine. So what do we do to find out if a person has scoliosis? Well, there are three tests that we do.
How We Check for Scoliosis
Number one is we do a chiropractic examination, it is very thorough. And in our office, we actually specialize in advanced spinal correction. It is very different and very unique compared to most other chiropractors and traditional chiropractic, this is something that we specialize in. The second thing is posture checks, we use a computerized analysis that allows us to measure a person’s posture. Typically, when we see a posture where the one shoulder is way lower than the other, and one hip is way higher than the other, that is a good indication that somebody may have a condition called scoliosis. And so we have a computerized analysis that we use in order to measure and track that postural deformity. And then the third and most reliable way to diagnose scoliosis is through X ray. X ray really is the only way that we can see inside of a person’s body. X ray allows us to take a picture of what’s happening to the spine and the position that the spine is in as you’re standing with the force of gravity, right? So, in a case of scoliosis, we’re able to take an x ray, measure the scoliosis, and then determine if it’s possible to actually correct that condition. And if we can correct it, the X ray will also give us information as to how much we correct it. Now, just like any other health condition, the sooner that we catch it, the more correction we can get.
So if you think that you or a loved one may have scoliosis, a simple checkup or a simple exam and X ray with a spinal corrective chiropractor would actually do the trick to confirm it. Whether or not that that’s the case and if we can help you.
